After Deb and I secured our valuables in the safe in the "Beehive" we headed out to visit the Borghese Gallery for a 5pm reservation time. Our thinking was that most tourist will be there in the morning.....but OMG it was packed with a sold out sign. No problem. We checked our bags and waiting in line. It took us about an hour and a half to see all the statues and paintings. I really enjoy the museums. It can be boring or overwhelming if that is all you do all day.
After leaving the museum we headed out to find some where to eat.
On the way to the cafe we came upon this ruin in the park. That is Rome....you walk pass ruins and incredible buildings everywhere. A photographers dream!
Cafe's line the streets. They call to you and encourage you to come eat in their place of business.
But...that is where you want to sit and eat. You can people watch. Enjoy the beautiful evening. They, the Italians, will never rush you through dinner. You could sit there for hours. Their philosophy is dinner is a social event. Interruptions are rude....you will need to ask them for the bill or they may never bring it.
The choice of dinner when in Rome.....Lasagna of course. Doesn't look quite like the Canadian version and is quite delicious.
Caprese is also an Italian dish that we love. It is slices of tomatoes, slices of mozzarella cheese, sprinkled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
