The Spanish Steps & Gelato

The walk from dinner to the Spanish Steps wasn't that far and a wee bit twisty turny....but sometimes you need to follow the crowds....like little ants.
The view above is the walk up to the top of the Spanish Steps at sunset....oh yeah.

The view from the top.  Very typical italian buildings.  The Spanish Steps is the place to hang out in the evening.  People also make their way to Trevi Fountain, but the casual hang out is here.  The citizens of Rome and the tourists enjoy it equally.

Half way down the Spanish Steps.  In retrospect, arriving at the top of the steps is better on the legs.  It is a LONG way up.  Coming down is easier.

This group of Italian young people were celebrating something.  They were singing and dancing from the top to the bottom of the steps.  Someone suggested it was a tradition of some sort....maybe a graduating class?  Not sure.  Doesn't matter, they were having a hoot.
Love it.

The view from the bottom.  Really doesn't do justice to the impressiveness of this place.

It would not be a Rome shuffle without stopping for gelato.  Yummy deliciousnesssssssssssss!!!
