The festivities on the boardwalk along the Grand Canal. These costumed Venetians were out front of St. Mark's Basilica. For money...you could get your pictures taken with them. Many have elaborate costumes to entice the tourists.

Our new friend. Roberto. He wants to come to Canada to do "ice fishing?" He thinks it is quite amazing that we actually do it.
His english was so much better than our Italian could ever be.
